ALERT Life Sciences Computing U.K. Ltd is delighted to announce that on 9th November 2009, the Trust and ALERT signed the contract to implement ALERT® PAPER FREE HOSPITAL as the key component of its VISION project.
The Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will introduce a new electronic system to further improve the safety and quality of the care it provides.
The project, which has been called Vision, will see a major change to the way healthcare staff deal with patients by using electronic systems to support better, safer care for people who go into hospital.
ALERT® PAPER FREE HOSPITAL is a clinical software solution for hospitals that produces comprehensive, integrated clinical records while providing management tools to help improve the efficiency of hospital operations.
Aidan Kehoe, the Trust's Chief Executive, said: "The Vision project will take patient care to a whole new level. It will benefit our patients by making comprehensive information, such as test results, medication orders and progress notes, easily and immediately accessible to the health care professionals who are caring for patients at all stages of treatment from a minor problem to an emergency incident.
"Most staff will already use a computer system as part of the provision of care in their daily routine but with Vision this will be expanded to include a number of procedures such as ordering prescriptions, care pathways and clinical documentation.

The contract with Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was let under the NHS Connecting for Health Additional Supply, Capability and Capacity framework contract as part of the National Programme for IT.
ALERT is the first acute hospital clinical solution to be sold to the NHS under the ASCC framework contract. It is widely reported that ASCC will be used to procure clinical solutions in the South of England in a major procurement process due to begin in January 2010.
