President of the Portuguese Republic inaugurated ALERT's new Head Office

The 4th Head Office of ALERT Life Sciences Computing, located in Vila Nova de Gaia (Portugal), was inaugurated by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, on May 20. The ceremony was also attended by the First Lady, Maria Cavaco Silva, the State Secretary of Health, Manuel Pizarro, and a wide group of other distinguished guests from the Health sector in Portugal. 


The visit of the President of the Portuguese Republic to ALERT closed the 4th Campaign of the “Route to Science”, which was devoted to Information and Communication Technologies. These routes consist of visits to universities, R&D units, laboratories, science and technology centers, and companies in areas of particular interest to the President. 


The general objectives of the "Route to Science" are to value the role of Portuguese scientists, call for an enterprising culture that invests in innovation, and draw attention to several niches of research, development and innovation, thus showing the best of what is done in Portugal.
