Paper on ALERT® implementation benefits at Espírito Santo Hospital accepted for CAPSI2010 in Portugal

The scientific article entitled "Evaluation of benefits with the implementation of a paper-free information system at Espírito Santo Hospital" by Mário Caldeira (Lisbon Business and Management School), Rui Quaresma (Évora University), Hélder Quintela (ALERT Life Sciences Computing, S.A.) and António Serrano (Évora University) was accepted for CAPSI - Conferência da Associação Portuguesa de Sistemas de Informação (Conference of the Portuguese Association for Information Systems).


According to the analysis on the implementation benefits of ALERT® PAPER FREE HOSPITAL at Espírito Santo Hospital in Évora, Portugal, by the Management Studies Centre of the Technical University of Lisbon, using ALERT® represents an operational advantage for these healthcare units when compared with other facilities. 


The study indicates an estimated benefit of €3.86 million in 2010, which translates in a global cost reduction (with human resources in archive services, with paper used, with imaging exam printing, etc.) and in an increase of the estimated activity, such as outpatient appointments.


CAPSI2010 will take place on October 20-22, 2010, at the Technology and Management School of the Polytechnic University of Viana do Castelo. The event is organized in partnership with Minho University.
