ALERT® was upgraded at the Baixo Alentejo Local Healthcare Unit (BALHU), in Portugal, on May 3, 2011. The existing version at the Permanent Services of Castro Verde Primary Care Center was also upgraded.

This upgrade allows both institutions to use all ALERT® EDIS functionalities, including a single and centralized electronic health record, as well as the possibility to tranfer patients between José Joaquim Fernandes Hospital and the Castro Verde Emergency Services.

On July 7, another Emergency Services in Serpa was also integrated, in the scope of the BALHU. This facility is now also using ALERT® EDIS.
