ALERT® STUDENT presented at Faculty of Medical Science of Minas Gerais in Brazil

On May 9, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., a presentation on ALERT® STUDENT was given by Jorge Guimarães, ALERT's Founder and President, at the Faculty of Medical Science of Minas Gerais (FMSMG).


The event, which brought together around 200 students and lecturers in the university’s auditorium, was a success. Prof. Lucas Viana Machado, Head of the University, was among those present.


The FMSMG is a higher education teaching facility, located in Belo Horizonte, state of Minas Gerais, in Brazil. This institution combines the experience of more than six decades of teaching and research with the innovative attitude that both the current education context and healthcare IT area demand. The School of Medicine, which is the second oldest in Minas Gerais, is acknowledged as one of the most renowned in the country. Its degrees in Nursing, Physical Therapy, Psychology and Occupational Therapy – pioneer courses in the State – and its postgraduate and distance learning courses are recognized for their excellence.


The adopted educational model assures student progress monitoring by teachers through supervised traineeships (Affonso Silviano Brandão Ambulatory Services, São José University Hospital, João XXIII Hospital, and other). The institution carries out several community programs in various domains of medical care, and provides local support to the Unified National Health System in Belo Horizonte’s metropolitan region. Furthermore, its community healthcare services, within the Family Health Program, are directed at the underserved community in rural areas of mining towns and are provided by the Rural/Metropolitan Internship Program.
