During the event, from February 25-28, 2008, interoperability functions from several different clinical software vendors were demonstrated in a public forum. This is the third year in a row in which ALERT® products were shown at the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS. This time ALERT was more visible by showing two distinct user profiles:
-Content Consumer for EDR (Emergency Department
Referrals) - document retrieval for patient referrals;
-Content Creator for EDES (Emergency Department Encounter Summary) - creation and publication of clinical documents.
By IHE request ALERT also provided a system for a third interoperability scenario, so that 3 different sites of ALERT were shown at the Interoperabilty Showcase.
To be eligible to participate in the Interoperability Showcase, ALERT® software systems have to have passed IHE interoperability tests successfully. This testing was held during the week-long Connectathon organized by IHE in Chicago in January.
By using the latest standards, ALERT showed again, in practice, its ability to interoperate on a RHIO environment using state of the art communication technologies and complying with all required standards, regulations and security demands.
HIMSS visitors who attended the IHE interoperability Showcase could see, in real-demonstrations, how ALERT® is able to send and receive crucial clinical information in a network of several healthcare facilities. In this way ALERT continues to position itself among the leading global healthcare IT companies.
