In February 2010 ALERT Life Sciences Computing obtained the Dutch ID healthcare certification “BSN Zorg Keurmerk”. This certification declares that a healthcare IT system can determine and process a patient’s ID number and identity them in a correct and user friendly way.

The ALERT® ADT module (for patient registration) has been adapted to the Dutch market in such a way that it processes and uses the national ID numbers to their full potential. The ID of a patient can be checked on correctness, and patient demographic data. It can also be retrieved automatically and it is possible to check if an ID document (like a passport) is valid.

Unique to ALERT’s solution is the way missing data in birthdates is handled. If for example the day is missing, ALERT® ADT can still process it. It may seem like a small detail, but many information systems have great difficulty in handling a birth date like “00-00-1980”.

The patient registration module has been acquired by several hospitals and is especially important for administrative patient processing. The ALERT® ADT module was a necessary product for the Dutch market and therefore a welcome addition to ALERT’s suite of clinical solutions.
