Last May 14, the inventory and fixed assets reconciliation with general ledger was concluded at Sousa Martins Hospital in Guarda, Portugal, according to the methodology defined by Directive no. 671/2000 of April 17. ALERT® ERP Mobile Inventory was used for that purpose.
This work was the product of a partnership between the Local Healthcare Unit (LHU) of Guarda and ALERT in the scope of the ALERT® ERP Fixed Assets implementation.
Teams of hospital staff and ALERT employees were organized for this project. These teams carried out all the field work with PDAs and label printers. Afterwards, the same teams performed the fixed assets reconciliation with general ledger of around 13 500 assets.
Similarly to many Portuguese hospitals, Sousa Martins Hospital did not have an updated inventory of its assets. With the integration of the gathered data in ALERT® ERP Fixed Assets, the facility is now able to effectively control its equipment, to hold responsible the persons who misuse that equipment, to reallocate underused assets and to justify the acquisition of new equipment, all based on accurate data.
