ALERT Life Sciences Computing is proud to announce that, on November 16, the first stage of the fully integrated ALERT® PAPER FREE HOSPITAL suite went live in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful Go Live sees the ALERT® EDIS (Emergency Department Information System) solution being used across the A&E Department by all professional groups as a fully integrated and comprehensive clinical record including the use of orders and results, and the prescribing and clinical documentation functionality. The Go Live is the first step in the implementation of the trust-wide Vision Project which will see the full ALERT® PAPER FREE HOSPITAL suite implemented across all services, specialties and professional groups at the Trust.
Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a 943 bed acute hospital in the North West of England. The A&E Department sees around 6 500 cases per month, and over 450 users were trained to use ALERT® EDIS in preparation for the Go Live.
The Vision Project and the ALERT® solution partnership is a critical part of the Trust’s commitment to high quality, and safe and efficient 21st century healthcare provision for its patients and staff.
Aidan Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said that the introduction of Vision would provide major benefits for patients and staff. “This is an exciting development for the Trust and we are sure the new system will help us use the IT that is now available to provide better and safer care for our patients. It will give our staff access to constantly updated information wherever the patient is in the hospital, and clinical staff will no longer have to search for notes as they will have all the details at hand, including any relevant medical history and test results. This will ensure we have a safer service, carry out fewer duplicate investigations and reduce the number of avoidable admissions to hospital.”
